So there’s proper technique to using a cane so it doesn’t put more strain than is absolutely necessary on other joints. If you are unable to stand up straight enough to use it that way or have the height adjusted poorly, or if you are heavily leaning on it, you need more stable support from a walker, or something lower impact like some forearm crutches with a full cradle
