The nurse strike in nyc is making me so happy I hope all their demands are met and more. I’ve been in and out of ny hospitals for the past 8 years and I’ve known some nurses for that long. They are hard amazing workers and have done so much for me.

just imagine what they could accomplish if they were interested in taking similar action on behalf of patient safety standards

Are you referring to the shooting? That has nothing to do with nurses-the fault lies within NYPD who is one of the most incompetent departments in the entire country.

not at all—I’m not actually sure which shooting you’re talking about, and I’m pretty fervently anti-cop in general. I just wish nurses would use that same bargaining power to also push for, say, masking policies

I don’t think I’m aware of an issue within masking policies. My main residencies are in Solan Kettering and nyu and most floors and units people need to be masked.

that’s genuinely a relief to hear, medical professionals over where I’m at are alarmingly irresponsible with infection control practices. like not only do they not require masking at any of the clinics I have to attend, but also, just a few months ago I was in the ER in the same room as an unconscious old man with confirmed covid and the nurses Still weren’t masked 😬

so no shade towards NYC nurses in particular tbc, I just have a major chip on my shoulder over this stuff cause I’m on immunosuppressants and locally the whole medical field is really failing at keeping up with the times
