Idk if this counts as chronic but my TMJ has been causing me such severe pain that I literally want to bash my skull against the wall. Finding someone who is actually qualified to treat it has been a fucking nightmare 😭

I can relate a bit. I gave up looking bc my neuro (tmj was worsening migraines) said to go to my pcp, my pcp said talk to the dentist, dentist said pcp. Pcp said go to an ent. ENT said they don’t treat that. Like who am I supposed to see about this???

No literally, it’s a nightmare. TMJ falls between the cracks of who exactly treats it. I went from my dentist to an ortho to my pcp to an oral surgeon back to a dentist. I’m learning that a dentist of some kind is usually better than a doctor. Also make sure they’re a specialist in TMJ, like it’s something they deal with a lot. So many people think they understand TMJ but have no idea wtf they’re talking about

Idk how bad your TMJ but I’d seriously keep trying to find someone who can help. Mine didn’t used to be that bad but has progressed to being pretty severe — it’s causes me so much distress and it’s easier to treat early rather than late
