Someone in my city told me to off myself after I vented online about my autoimmune disorder flaring up last night. I don’t understand why so many people where I live think this is normal behavior….

personally, i would love to share that with as many people i know like “look at this fucking psycho, isn’t that insane to say?” and maybe eventually those words will come back to them when they never expected it to. truthfully, we both know that comment meant nothing to them. it held no weight for them to throw it at you, not knowing what it might hit or how hard it’d be for you. know how much bigger you are and how much power that comment has given you over them now.

idk if it’s an anonymous forum, but if i were you, I’d share that comment you received with people in the immediate area and your social circle. it’ll do two things: 1) your social circle will be more aware of both the horrific ableism and the hidden ableism in their community and 2) it’ll potentially come back to the individual who mindlessly commented such a horrible thing. granted, a “city” implies it’s a massive area so I understand it’s wishful thinking, but IRL consequences would be nice.

I live in a smaller city where our communities tend to know each other especially if someone is problematic. The person that did this was a moderator in the Portland subreddit Reddit channel here in Oregon

oh boy oh boy would i not love more than anything to tell everyone about that interaction then lmfao 😂 not that reddit moderators ever really get held accountable but when they DO get removed as a reddit mod, generally their entire life as they know it collapses… live long and prosper, my friend!
