Good to hear. I’ve had 2 other surgeries but never abdominal so I’ve been worried cause I know it is a bit of a bitch. How have symptoms been if you don’t mind me asking? I heard many people get acid reflux from it and it’s like one of the only gi things I don’t have and I wanna keep it that way
I havent noticed too many symptoms. I have had less acid reflux than before but I do have more phlegm than I used to. Surgery was not too bad, getting up to go to the bathroom and laughing/coughing were super painful but other than that the pain is manageable. Little tip: Make sure to take laxatives! Your gi tract slows down significantly when you have an abdominal surgery. I waited a week before taking anything and it was so unbelievably painful when I finally passed a bowel movement.
Wait chill no way😭😭 so my EF is really low, my gallbladder basically doesn’t function so what the drs are saying if not now, it’s in the near future and might as well get it done while. But so far from what they’ve said, they aren’t assuming I’ll get improvement from it. Mainly because I have 3 other gi diagnoses, all with the same symptoms so if there’s improvement it’ll only be slight just because there’s so many other factors playing into it.
And believe it or not, they are sorta in a way blaming the gastroparesis on the brain cancer I had in high school. They think the trauma in the brain cause it to seize the brain gut communication and now there is none. My neurologist and neuropsych weren’t surprised when I told them about the diagnosis. But it’s still in research so they can’t say it as fact. So my case may or may not be a little different idk lol. That’s really amazing though I’m so glad you got some relief. Gi shit sucks!
Thats so interesting and sucky at the same time. GI sucks so much! I have crohns disease. My gallbladder was over functioning and causing me to throw everything up which in turn lead my stomach to not function properly. They removed mine hoping that it would improve my stomach function and stop causing issues with my crohns. I have basically been in a flare up since my gallbladder issues started 3 years ago. I know its unlikely, but I hope your surgery brings you relief. ts is exhausting.
Yeah it’s super interesting. Mayo Clinic was the first to say it and when I told my neuropsych at Solan Kettering she was like “I have to say, it’s really cool they’re saying that because we’re in the midst of researching this so we can’t say it and so I’m not saying it but I’m saying it” (she’s the best) but yeah as much as it sucks I love biology so it’s so interesting to me. Wow that’s really amazing! My brothers fiancé has Crohns, I’m gonna keep that in mind for her. It really is exhausting
