TW (maybe): Has anyone had a provider touch them without asking? I’m not a fan of being touched in general (so maybe im overreacting), but a doctor just randomly held onto me, no warning, no explanation multiple times and I felt so uncomfortable…

I think I’m overthinking it. But it felt unnecessary, wasn’t relevant to what he was doing, and just makes me a little sick and so uncomfortable with him.

that sounds pretty straightforwardly inappropriate to me, and either way you’re definitely not overreacting. doctors have an unconditional responsibility to prioritize a patient’s consent & sense of safety, especially when they’re interacting with our bodies directly. it counts as boundary-disregarding for him to touch you without, at *bare minimum*, letting you know that he’s about to do so

+ even if I were to interpret this in the most-innocuous-possible way and offer your doctor excessive good faith, the bottom line is that it’s a serious problem for a clinician to give you reason to feel uncomfortable being alone with them. cause that’s a barrier between you & the ability to seek care. so, if at all possible, I hope you’ll ask about seeing a different provider at that clinic
