I’m not crazy right, a heart rate of 196 is not normal right? My cardiologist told me it was normal cause it didn’t go above my max (that thing where it’s 220 - your age), and now I feel like no one’s gonna believe me that I feel bad😭

I’ve never heard of the 220-your age thing. 196 is only normal if you’re like, actively running

If you’re at rest that’s not normal. You need a new cardiologist.

My cardiologist refused further testing on me bc my heart regularly goes up to 235 and has for two years 🤪 they literally don’t care

220-your age is supposed to be for while doing intense exercise only!

The only time I’ve hit 196bpm was when I was actively roller-blade-sprinting uphill about 5 miles into my rollerblade excursion. That’s not normal otherwise

220-age is the formula for HR Max in exercise😭everyone’s max is different, your age is just an estimate but it’s really based more on overall health, training, genetics, etc. (I studied ex sci). Things can alter it like medications and stress and stuff..get a second opinion

If you’re on the east coast I can recommend you a new cardiologist who isn’t awful at their job
