telling my psychiatrist i think i might be narcoleptic and him telling me my adhd meds are also used for narcolepsy… so i feel narcoleptic on narcolepsy medication… right i hate it here

Adderall put me to sleep in 30 minutes at the lowest dose. Stimulants often make people with adhd sleepy and are often unhelpful for narcolepsy when adhd is also present

stimulants don’t work well for me so my adhd meds aren’t the typical things

i just meant not like the traditional ones like adderall or concerta like it’s supposed to work differently

Regular stimulants and ones like modafinil both increase dopamine in the brain (though modafinil is more specific with where) and unfortunately too much dopamine can paradoxically cause sleepiness even at relatively low levels when you’re chronically dopamine deficient
