is it acceptable to ask my roommate to choose something else as their go to microwave meal? because their current one smells like pee and triggers my migraines

socially acceptable, probably not and there’s a chance it’ll cause tension sadly. if it’s triggering your migraines though i think it’s definitely worth it

I feel like this would depend on the relationship between you and your roommate. If yall aren’t super close they will probably just get mad.

Idk what your living situation looks like but if it’s possible for them to have the microwave in their room or something that might be the best option. If you’re in a dorm there are sometimes communal spaces that have microwaves they could use. Idk if they would be very receptive to nyxing their go to meal, but if you’re friends and not randomly assigned you might have more luck with asking for a change

Idk how strong it is, but keeping a window open/cracked in the kitchen could also help. I think it’s absolutely worth taking care of the situation in one way or another and if other solutions don’t work the best option is they stop eating that food. Maybe snag them a different freezer meal the next time you go to the store and say “i saw this and thought you’d like it.” If they like it enough they might switch without you even needing to bring it up

our windows don’t open or even crack. i have an air purifier but the smell still lingers for two hours minimum

Asking them to put the microwave on the stove with the hood fan set to high could also work, but maybe just ask them to switch to something else, your health should take priority over their food preferences

we don’t have a stove in our dorm so i’ll probably just ask them to no eat the food in our actual bedroom (because we have a suite so they can eat in the living room to reduce smell)
