Having accommodations for some unexcused absences and epilepsy while professors still ask for a doctors note is so stupid. Ya let me spend 3k to see a doctor to say “I had a seizure today” or message my neurologist to say I had a seizure 7 hours ago.

Maybe talk to the disability office and see if they can help?

Isn’t the point of unexcused to NOT have to have a doctors note??

^ my neurologist couldn’t even confirm the fact I had a seizure, all he could do is confirm “yes she has epilepsy” and going to the ER/hospital couldn’t confirm it either unless I had a seizure captured WHILE I was there but you get my point. What’s the point of that “unexcused periodic” accommodation if some professors still require a doctors note.

When email professors about the excused absence, remind them that you are legally excused and cc your school’s disability services with it, and if they still say no remind them that it’s considered discrimination to deny you this right according the the rehabilitation act of 1973 (section 504 prohibits discrimination based on disability)
