I personally would like to own one (or a BRZ since they’re mechanical twins) or a Miata but I see a lot of people online saying it’s not great bc relatively low horsepower

It’s a good drivers car. Handles great and lots of after market. Not high horsepower is the biggest con with the car. Sits at around 170-180 hp stock and you can get up to 200-210 with mods without going forced induction. Although for the price one goes new many other cars are available at the price point like for example a 2.0 Supra or a Camaro ss maybe with the 1le package also a mustang gt. Maybe some b58 cars are available at the price point. Of course those are used and the gr86 would benew

I’ve have them all and three Miata’s all generations they are all really good fun and reliable cars aslong as you realize their limitations early on. Now I’m older and I have a old classic car, and a daily. I wouldn’t ever own any of them again, but only because I’ve had over 10diff cars since I was 17 and got my learners permit. Now I have a nice quiet daily that can go in city traffic and I can have a normal conversation inside without the exhaust drone. And then a fun weekend wrench car. 👍🏽

My buddy has a 2024 86 that’s got suspension work and wheels. I haven’t driven it a lot but I really liked it even stock. It was light, nimble, and decently quick. That said, I needed a daily and picked up a 24 Z performance for about the same price. If you’re gonna daily it, I’d go with the Z

Tbh bro Idc care about the HP if I wanted more power I’d just get a tune or little mods that’ll add hp to the car. As long as it handles well im happy with it and its already a pretty lightweight car so

That’s my thoughts too tbh. I think esp with the weight it’s a nice hp number, and I can actually have fun rowing through the gears without breaking speed limits or needing to go on a track

Yeah I was thinking of test driving one since i never really cared too much about the power of the car

Once I actually get a job that pays me more than just rent I’m hoping to buy a gr86 or a Miata, but that’s still a few years from now unfortunately. Good news though is supposedly the next gen Miata and gr86 is going to be co developed by Mazda and Toyota so that should hopefully give it another few years before full electrification catches up to them

Not a lot, but it snows sometimes. I've seen a bunch of people with them up north and in Canada. They handle well as long as you have snow tires

It’d be cool to see Toyotas 3 cylinder turbo from the gr Corolla in them.

True. I think they may use the inline 6 Mazda developed for the next Supra

2024 z performance is the same price??? Either that z was marked down or that 86 was marked up like crazy, iirc a z performance is like 50k. Its not a bad idea though, i might look into that if the z is still in production 7ish years from now

The Z isn’t selling that well(at least around me), so if you find a “new” one that’s been on the lot for a year there are some ridiculous discounts. My brother got abt 8k off his 24 nismo. My buddy bought his 86 new. I think he was otd just under 40 and mine was otd under 45
