Would you say spending $4,500 (overall) is a lot for generally all the tools you need, and maybe want, to rebuild a car yourself as a DIY car enthusiast?

Yes, that’s a bit much
No, that seems reasonable

a set of box wrenches, a set of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sockets, torque wrench, a few different pliers, a drill, impact, prybars, hammers, multimeter, maybe some misc screwdrivers & picks, and a place to put that stuff in. that's like 2k max. if turning wrenches isn't something you do as a full time job you absolutely do not need the fancy name brand tools

All the tools I have are from harbor freight and Autozone. My budget is that high because I’m planning on swapping and engine and transmission and want to do it without asking friends for tools. I also want to work on cars for a hobby (maybe a business)
