This might be a hot take but I hate when a book ends a chapter and then immediately picks up the next chapter in the same exact location or conversation like this book with 70+ chapters could easily be condensed to 30 if we just continued the conversation

I get it if it’s to build suspense or for a big “aha” moment, but otherwise that sounds completely awful and immersion breaking 😭

Or when a book has a time jump but doesn't have anything like a page break to differentiate it. That's usually only in poorly written books, though.

This book that I was reading was ending every single chapter in the exact same conversation/situation even after the most mild reveals that are already on the back of the book like it was so unnecessary and annoying 🫠 I really think it has to do with shortening attention spans so shorter chapters are probably pushed by publishers bc so many people are against long chapters

Tik tok brains 😔 I love chapter endings with a small sense of closure, if I like the book I’m going to keep reading regardless of how the chapter ends, and they give me good stopping places so I don’t completely damage my sleep schedule
