I’m looking for a good long fantasy or sci fi book to read to from a female author. Not looking for smth smutty, but I don’t mind romance.

Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross is excellent fantasy prose, at about 600 pages if I remember correctly. It’s romantic but that’s not the only thing going on, there’s action and political rivalries as well. There are two tastefully written, brief love scenes near the end.

hated Gideon the Ninth, but if you read & enjoy it then lmk why you liked it so I can give it another try 😭 anyways tho I adored Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb (though it’s a trilogy)

The realm of the elderlings 🙌 she’s the best in the field and theres 16 books across 5 series. Fonda Lee is amazing with the green bone saga as well (not so much with her newest book). Mask of mirrors is fun but nothing groundbreaking, and I haven’t read it yet but have heard good things about black sun by Rebecca roanhorse

Imperial Radch Trilogy by Ann Leckie, fantastic sci-fi worldbuilding and incredible political space opera, 100 out of 10 always recommend
