Kinda book/movie related but the robert downey jr sherlock holmes adaptation is actually pretty good. I think its one of the rare times where the spirit of the books was captured really well in an original movie story. Is it just me or is this kinda true?
This is how I feel about the recent haunting in Venice Poirot movie. The plot was nothing like the book it was adapted from but the Poirot vibes were so perfect

I agree with you. Another one is the recent One Battle After Another movie, which is loosely based on Pynchon’s Vineland- completely diverging from the plot- but it still captures the Pynchon madness and the themes of the book.

I agree with #2- it was easily my favorite of the three Branagh Poirot movies. Especially as the book is a lesser quality Christie- there was a lot of room to mess around
