Yeah…like really bad. Author thinks just blindly giving characters trauma is writing. Theres a lot of graphic rape and pedo stuff in the books and it’s honestly gross considering it’s a ya series. It shouldn’t have that stuff explicitly described.

Like as a victim, don’t read that series. The author bases it off of her own trauma, yes, but it’s done in very poor taste and for shock value.

Wait aren’t there sex scenes in the series??? How is it ya? This is also why I’ve been debating reading it bc I don’t do well with graphic rape scenes it feels icky to me.

Yeah, there’s a lot of graphic stuff. It’s somehow ya though. It’s really nasty considering they’re minors and the fact that the latest book has graphic assault involving a child under 10

People sexualize the boys in that series a lot, which is weird considering the main audience is adult women reading and the boys are 16 and 17

I was thinking of only reading the first two books just bc I know Shannon wasn’t raped thanks to Joey and I can’t emotionally handle the other books 😭😭 they sound so sad

IMO the first 4 r the best!! U can def read the first 2 as standalones and be find but the series does pull u in… also like yes all the books were emotionally taxing but i feel like the only truly horrible one that people base the entire series on is the newest one that came out. U can read the first 5 and it’s like ofc not… tame but there’s no like entire sa scenes like the 6th book. Im excited for the next book bc it hopefully won’t be as traumatizing as the last one
