So I finally got into reading a few months ago after years of hating it. It felt like a chore growing up probably because of school. I’m happy I’m finally enjoying it but my family has a book club and they want me to join. But I really don’t want to pt 1

Because I feel like joining and having a date to be done by is just going to make it feel like a chore again and I don’t want it be ruined for me again. I also feel like I’m being rude by saying no though. Does anyone have any advice?

Just say no and say that exact reason why. If they can’t understand that then they suck to begin with. Dont do things you dont want to do and don’t ruin fun things for yourself cause someone else wants you to do it a different way

Thank you! I think that’s exactly what made me hate reading in the first place. Teachers always wanted me to read it and answer questions the exact same way they did. I tell my family no every time they ask when they come over. Hopefully if I say no every time they’ll get annoyed enough to stop asking.

That’s weird they keep asking, like what happened to no means no?🥴
