What helps you read a nonfiction book? As a history major I’m struggling to read my nonfiction books currently.

I’m reading a book about the holocaust rn actually lol. Something that helps me is to look at pictures of the setting. Whether it’s the physical places, people, songs mentioned, maps, etc. As the comment above said I feel like it helps me become immersed in the story as I get when I read fiction

I immerse myself in the time period that I’m reading about, music, food, etc (please tell me you’re not studying the holocaust or slavery)

I like to talk to my history nerd friends about it. It makes me more excited to read it, and they’ll often know random bullshit that makes it more fun
