Here to represent the people who read smut and also plenty of other genres. Brain still works guys, seeing one two many synonyms for dick has not reduced me to monosyllables. We can stop panicking now.

I think we need to change our usage of smut. A book that has a plot outside of the sex scenes is not smut. Smut is literally just straight porn on paper with not much else happening outside of it. Ex : I see people constantly saying ACOTAR is smut. It really isn’t. There is not that many sex scenes and it’s not that graphic. I’ve definitely seen much worse in other books that still are not technically smut.

No, smut is one element in books. “Smutty” described books would have more smut than average, but smut itself can be limited to once scene. Similarly violent books would have more violence, but violence is one element. You’re just trying to be judgmental with extra steps. There is nothing wrong with books having smut in any capacity, and nothing wrong with people reading them.

I’ve been saying 😭 I’m fine with sex scenes, even very detailed ones. Even if it’s happening frequently. But only IF it makes sense WITH the plot. Not that it IS the plot. Or people who skim over the plot to intently read the sex scenes

Please point out where i was judgmental 😂 I literally said we should stop labeling books and judging them on incorrect usage of a genre title.
