Haunting Adeline literally promotes R/SA, Stockholm syndrome and that a man stalking you/forcing himself onto you is attractive?? It’s disgusting. I haven’t read h.d Carlton’s other books so I can’t speak on them but haunting Adeline should not be fantasized in the way that it is. You also can’t compare authors who write in two different genres. I’m not a fan of Colleen Hoover but it ends with us promotes surviving domestic abuse and breaking the cycle. Which theme would you want teens to see?
but yet shes sweeping her kids assault under the rug because hes just a boy. i want people that have been through things find things that help them work through things because thats what haunting adeline did for me. hd carlton has stated multiple times her books are not for everyone because god FORBID she puts her real life into a story to help herself work through trauma. good to know yall think people cant find their own ways to work things out in there head.
Everything you said is just ignorant assumptions. Nobody ever said what CH is doing with her actual son isn’t wrong. I’m talking about the books. What the books are in writing. Nobody ever said you can’t use an outlet to work through things. The book fantasizes and promotes R/SA, Stockholm syndrome etc. that is a disgusting way to cope to glorify something that so many women, including myself, go through. To make those themes seem attractive is disrespectful to all the women who went through it.
