i really want to get back into reading, but it makes me so sweet. i get too cozy and comfortable while i read that i end up only lasting a few pages before i want to doze off. any advice?

Reading isn’t a race. If you can only manage 2-3 pages, so what? Just keep reading. Also make sure you reading something that interests you. Don’t try to tackle hard classics until you are ready.

I usually try to read in places where I won’t get that comfortable. Like outside at a park, at a cafe, or in public. I’m narcoleptic so I struggle heavily with this problem.

Unfortunately I am the same way and quickly realized I don’t have the stamina that I used to. So to curb this I started to listen to my books and that’s helped a lot. I sometimes have the hardcover book in front of me but not all the time.

this is so cute lol you’re a sleepy guy. i read mostly horror so this never happens 💀 reading isn’t a race though, if you only read a couple pages before bed and it puts you to sleep then you’re better than half our generation who doomscrolls until they pass out

ahh thank you for the reminder!! in all honesty, as much as i want to be a classics girly, they’re not for me. i can read them in small doses but large books are too time consuming for me at this point in my life. but the 2-3 pages thing is definitely something i’ll remember.

You may have sleep apnea! Have you ever had a sleep study done?

i haven’t, but i don’t believe i have sleep apnea. i don’t make noise when i sleep, according to my friends/family. i’m a deep sleeper. but i do have anxiety-related insomnia

That definitely explains it. I also have insomnia.

maybe it does lol. i also used to take prozac for it but it made me constantly fatigued, even more so than now. it made me stop reading altogether for a while. but since i’m not on it anymore, i’d like to try again.
