I just realized I rarely pick books with heavy world-building. Don’t get me wrong, you can absolutely have both. But if I had to choose, give me complicated people over complicated worlds any day. Maybe that says more about me than my reading taste

Girl same I’d rather have characters that I can do a deep dive into and over analyze every little action than a world that takes 10 chapters of description to understand bc quite frankly I am not going to remember all that

world building can be good if they are going to have it be important to the plot but otherwise my brain usually ignores it and imagines my own thing lol so give me complicated ppl pls

Right, ditto. World-building can be impressive, but I get attached to people, not places. I want to understand how characters think and why they act the way they do
