Ik it’s just me being a little petty/jealous, but I get a bit angry at all those videos of people opening bookmail with expensive/limited editions of series who then go “ooh it’s so pretty I can’t wait to read it for the first time”

No no I get u. Buying a collector’s edition of a book you’ve NEVER read is lowkey insaneeeee

Like it’s not one of my favorite series ever that I waited hours on the waitlist for and will ultimately end up paying 3x face value to a reseller. But it’s okay because it will look cool on their shelf 🫠

I got the deluxe edition of a book I hadn’t read because I saw it in B&N and thought it looked really cool (and also because I prefer hardcover over paperback) the dustcover actually got a little scratched up but I ended up loving the book, probably my favorite i’ve read in a while

Maybe it’s also just because i wouldn’t pay that much for a book I haven’t read yet but I suppose that’s a thing people do. I have plenty of unread books that I bought, but theyre just standard editions, not signed/numbered exclusive editions

I have a collector’s edition of some Agatha Christie but that’s because I’ve read every Poirot book I could get my hands on. I have a nice Les Miserables (not even a collector’s version) and it’s my third copy I own and idk how many times I’ve read it. I have collector’s Harry Potter stuff but I’ve read the series 3 times.

Cannot imagine paying more than $20 for some of these books too ngl!! And they’re my most favorite and treasured stories! How someone could buy them and probably still not even touch them bc if they haven’t read it yet who’s really betting they’re gonna crease the pages of a collectible….. doubtful.

I knowww 😭 I’ve kind of given up on a couple just because of absolutely insane resellers, but I do want the TBB editions of John Gwynne’s the faithful and the fallen series. It’s one of my favorites and the covers are gorgeous. Unfortunately people are already charging upwards of 250 for just the first TWO books. There will be a leftover sale in the future that I’m going to try very hard to get, but they’ll be very limited and I’m very unlucky

That’s totally valid, I’ve been there too. This was more about like exclusive numbered copies from like subterranean press or the broken binding, that kind of thing.
