I would change. I personally would be too confused. Or give one a nickname. Call Laura “AURA” or Lauren “Lori”

I'd definitely change one unless there's a reason you made them so similar. As a reader not only would it be confusing to remember which is which but I'd also be distracted and wonder why you didn't change one. If it helps, you could keep the same first letter or a similar sound.

i would change it. but maybe u can get away w keeping it if you make it comedic

Personally I’m team change it just so audiences don’t get mixed up 24/7 but just had an idea- idk if you ever watched the tv show new girl but it was revealed that 2 characters had the same first name but I would’ve never guessed that cuz one went by their last name. I loved that plot twist so maybe you could do something like that?
