I have written a bunch! I would say try a loose outline and then just get into it. The best practice to get good at writing is to actually dedicate time to writing.

I usually have my line of characters and a rough idea of the story and just let myself write. I usually clean it up as I write, especially if it’s a shorter piece. If I’m in a slump, I’ll write a scene with one of the characters in something random to better build their character up
