My work had it and it was literally being put out on the shelf, and I snatched it (we only had one copy). I even talked to my boss and she APPROVED selling it to me.

I’m happy for you! but as a bookstore owner, that’s hella unethical. When folks do this, it gets everyone, mainly indie sellers, in trouble 😭

I know! I exclusively talked to her about it but she said because of the publication date not giving the exact date and only the month and year, she was able to sell it. I feel like she was wrong tho.

She was lmao but you’re fine as long as you don’t leak it. It’s just wild. Like I’m a super new business and realized that these are pretty deadlines when they started making us sign embargo agreements on SJM release dates.

if its a standard book without Strict on-sale or embargo policies the bookstores can sell them as soon as they receive them
