If he likes Pillars of the Earth I would recommend The Count of Monte Cristo or Lonesome Dove

I love Ken Follett!! I think he has a newish book out. It’s called Circle of Days. It’s the prequel to The Pillars of the Earth. The Fall of Giants is a good one too.
