How stressed I feel as a Muslim woman writing a fantasy book series where both Christian and Muslim exorcisms work, knowing both the haram police and racist right wingers will come for my ass. Yet, I’m writing it anyway. It’s my dream. I’m done for lol.

Oh this is so interesting! Is it that the demons themselves will respond to either or that the demons have to originate with that specific religion?

So, there will be two types of demons in the book. One that is affected by Christian exorcisms while the other is affected by Islamic exorcisms. Jinn will be featured in this book series alongside demons from traditional Christian lore.

Hi. Thank you. So, what inspired me to write this book were the following: that (1) there weren’t much action adventure or fantasy horror featuring djinn accurately and (2) people in the West tend to confuse them with demons and I wanted a story that (3) explores if people could trap djinn, how would they do it, and what moral struggles would they face? Would they be the heroes they aspire to be or end up becoming the villains they detest.

Regarding the third reason, I’ve wanted to write a story about Muslims who perform exorcisms on jinn but then end up trapping them as well due to the trauma of possession. And the moral dilemma regarding that, especially as it is deemed not needed by Islam is discussed in the book.
