Ok so general question, do you like it when an author names their chapters or not?

I’m ambivalent. I’m definitely not going to base my opinions off of whether a book has them or not. Unless theyre funny or iconic I also tend to not notice them at all tbh. Like I can still remember some of the chapter names from Percy Jackson when I was in middle school, but can’t tell you whether the book I’m reading now has them or not

I like it as a reader (though I’m fine without it too) but as an author, I wish I hadn’t committed to it with my 5 book series. I’m on book 4 and why do I do this to myself??

It sorta depends on the style of book. Like if the plot of the book kinda has the essence of needing rules and the chapter titles are the rules - I love that. But if it’s kinda meaningless titles… ehh. It’ll be a while into the book before I like it.

I don’t care either way because I never read the chapter titles…

The only time I really take note is if they’re funny OR if the inclusion of titles means there’s no chapter numbers. I remember being vividly annoyed at one book that didn’t number the chapters but all the chapter titles were just the name of the pov char of that chapter so every time I started a new chapter it irked me bc it was an ebook and I had no idea how far in the book I was

(Like it, meaning the chapter titles if there’s confusion)
