In the middle of reading The Poppy War series and all I can say is that everybody lied. I went into this series thinking it was gonna be the one of pinnacles of Fantasy, but instead I’m halfway through book 2 and I want to DNF

THANK YOU. I mean don’t get me wrong I’m glad for the people who like it, but I just don’t get why those who do tend to get fed up and jump down the throats of people who didn’t. My experience was of a poorly written ya novel that tried to appeal to a wider audience with mature themes. I’m sure my favorite book has a bunch of people who didn’t enjoy it, but I’m not going to attack them for it (Ik no one’s attacking you rn, but it’s happened frequently over this specific series 😭)

Honestly didn’t finish the first book, great writing but it just wasn’t for me and is honestly overhyped

I DNFed it before I even finished the first book. Don’t get me wrong the concept is good but m I hated what the author made the fmc to be 🥲

I’ve read her other stuff and liked it. I chalk it up to it being her first book series, I think Katabasis definitely showcases how she’s improved.
