I definitely did too at one point. Worry not, the more you do it the better you get at it :) once you find a niche you start to actually understand some of the papers. But when you’re out of your field it obviously gets a little dicey.

I had to find academic papers for years and I still never got the hang of it. Idk either I’m dumb or academia is not user friendly

I guess it depends on the website. I use Jstor and google scholar most often. It is definitely dependent on the field of study, I know it varies a lot. Idk why people downvoted me so hard. What do you study?

Most of my papers were for gender studies, which can be annoyingly academic for a supposedly antiestablishment community. I had to use a lot of jstor and google scholar too. I found them to be horrendously difficult to use. And idk why you’re getting downvoted but my guess is it’s probably because of the sort of intellectual superiority vibes with “oh you don’t know how to use scholarly papers?” like no not everyone’s major requires that
