
The problem with school is that they don’t sell you on the benefits of what you’re reading/learning. Teachers should constantly be leading with what’s in it for the student. For example: “ although many of you will likely not use algebra after high school it’s still a workout for your brain and there will be times in life where you will need to memorize or learn formulas/strategies and then apply them in to solve real life problems”
Bad advice. You should be using what you learned in algebra post high school. Even if not the literal math, you use what you learned about learning/problem solving. If students can’t recognize that things like reading and math are important to them beyond in the moment then that’s on them. They shouldn’t need that spelled out
