It’s such a dense and heartbreaking read. The themes were perfect, as a woman in healthcare I have to say it made me hurt so much. It’s a war story about sexism, racism, classism, theocracy, etc. not at all a romance, and the nuance was so well written. Both characters did horrible things, and the war washed everything and everyone in blood. No one was truly ‘good’, and every poor choice came back to haunt the characters. The people hating on it haven’t gotten past the first 5th of the book.
