I’m cis so I don’t feel I can accurately speak to the realistic aspect but some queer works I have enjoyed are I Wish You All the Best and Felix Ever After. If you’re open to trans fiction suggestions in general I really enjoyed the Sunbearer trials, Cemetery Boys, and Hell Followed With Us. Not really realistic (in the sense of magic/magical realism) but I quite liked them, especially Hell Followed With Us.

Birthday by Meredith Russo was one I read freshman year of highschool so I don’t really remember it all that well but in my memory I liked it might be more of a coming of age romance though idk
