It’s so hard to find a romance / fantasy book these days that doesn’t sound like it was written by a middle schooler

Right where the passion and genuine writing 😭 it’s just “authors” throwing words down for a cheque

This!!!! Bc I’m sorry why are we just allowing ANYONE to publish and call themselves an author? Most of these people don’t have basic grammar or need to be institutionalized for the things they write (Rina Kent bby I’m looking at you).

no literally, like i read a book recently & not only was there a typo in the first 60 pages of the book, but some of the terms the author was using were the exact opposite ones that related to the situations, it was so strange

My thoughts exactly! I pick up a book where I’m excited to read it because I’ve heard good things about it and it’s popular only to find that’s it’s really not. I also understand that certain books are just not for me, but I feel like too many books are overhyped.

I need a book with deep yearning and a plot outside of just the relationship not sexuality explicit slop written about teenagers 😤

The author of Lord of Mysteries and Throne of Magical Arcana writes amazing fantasy novels, but they do have slow start. Shadow Slave is pretty good.

i personally enjoyed theon season by kiera azar. it’s a little hard to get through in a couple parts but it’s a good story, and it’s the first book in a trilogy (the other two aren’t out rn bc the first book js realized in september)

Is it good to get me out of a reading slump? I’ve had it on my TBR for so long

If you’re deep into fantasy yes! It’s written so well but the first little while is lots of story building. I think I read it in a week and had to wait a month before the second came out 😭 but amazing series I would definitely reread

Exactly. If they get together in the first book of the series I don’t want itttt. I want a slow burn
