I would definitely read the tags before you go in because it was my first foray into AO3 and BOY I did not know what I was getting myself into

Yes! As long as you understand that it’s a really visceral book with a lot of vile stuff in it. It’s 100% not a romance, and is more of a dark fantasy war story. I had to stop reading half way through because the rape scenes were far too realistic and nauseating, and were pretty triggering. There is a lot of nasty stuff in it so just be very aware. I feel a lot of people romanticize it too much and don’t understand the story that’s being told.

I feel like very often the Haunting Adeline type of readers get their hands on it and don’t understand the story being told. They just want to sexualize SA

Ok yes I get you. I read haunting Adeline and it was a really hard read but the storyline I liked.

Yeah I was a seasoned AO3 vet before reading it and it’s brutal. I had to stop reading because it’s genuinely the most sickeningly accurate depiction of SA I’ve ever read. If you have any trauma related to the topic I would steer clear unless you know you can handle a lot of detailed description many times over.
