I love the normal names sometimes. I’m into comics a whole lot and their names are like. Matt. Peter. Tony. Stephanie. Cass. 10/10 no notes.

Herbert didn’t fail to come up with a better name, he intentionally gave him an ordinary Earth name because Dune is a far-future human civilization, not a novel universe. The Atreides, Harkonnens, Corrinos, they all preserve fragments of Old Earth culture, ie. Jessica, Paul, Vladimir, Duncan Idaho etc... “Paul” is a deliberate choice, and he’s literally only called Paul consistently for the first half of the first book, after that he’s Usul, Muad’Dib, etc.

I wasn’t taking it that seriously, just following in the vein of the joke 😅 and I haven’t actually read any of the sequels, I’ve heard they get real weird. The third movie looks good so far tho

Bruh you’re so right about how weird it gets. In like the third-fourth book a character literally turns themself into a sandworm 😭.

No thats literally what I heard and why I didn’t continue 😅 I’m not usually a sci fi reader and started the first one since it’s more sci-fantasy. I did enjoy it, but I’m just gonna leave it there lol
