i think it's better to read it third because even though it is a prequel, it wasn't written before the others and doesn't introduce the world building and characters as well as the first one does. reading assassins blade after you already feel connected to the mc and the world will make the emotional destruction much more brutal

I recommend it third. The author recommends that too, I honestly think the storytelling is better that war.
