My public libraries have gotten rid of all books that have any form of queerness, sex, poc, or really anything I’d want to read about. I use Libby, but it’s clunky and as someone who reads over 100 books a year I can’t really justify waiting weeks for a book. I use it for books that aren’t on KU tho!
Public library has a fraction of the books that are in kindle unlimited. A tiny tiny fraction. And every page you read in KU directly supports authors, many of which are indie authors. There are many reasons to use KU or buy books vs using a library (which not everyone has access to btw).
Oh I love my library too (and I am spoiled with a university library and a public library in the same town). But most of the surrounding towns don’t have one at all. People drive 45 mins to my bookstore from surrounding counties bc they have no access to books in their rural communities. I wish everyone had a library. It’s just not the reality sadly
