I want a kindle so bad but every time I put it on my Christmas list no one gets it for me and I’m too broke to buy it myself

I get it, in the same boat. I’d definitely prefer to have a dedicated device, but the app works fine on my phone so I can’t personally justify the cost

Hack for the unlimited subscription: you’ll get 3 months free when you first get it. Use the free months as you would, but before it ends, download 20 books you’ll want to read and put your kindle on airplane mode. Cancel the subscription, and you’ll still be able to read the books even after it ends as long as airplane mode stays on

Don’t say Facebook market place bc the ones on there are either the price of just buying one off of Amazon or they’re in horrible condition

It is an investment but then you have to pay the $11 every month so like it adds up and I tend to go into reading slumps a lot so is it really worth it?

Just pay the subscription, download, cancel immediately, you’re still paying but if you go through slumps you won’t have to do it for the months you don’t use it. Or just do Libby or something

piggybacking on #3 to say it doesn’t have to be a kobo to link with your library though, but i agree with them on the drm free front. i read literally hundreds of books per year on my kindle for free with my library card. i haven’t had a kindle unlimited subscription since i was 13 and i don’t miss it
