That's ignorant to how a rise to power and consolidation works. It doesn't happen in an instant. We lose the rights gradually. Soon that book might not be allowed in schools, then libraries, then it will be delisted online, then the copies would be considered contraband and burned. Owners would be arrested. You don't start by arresting people.

The internet is the most powerful tool, but when the government has ties to the major internet providers, search engines, media platforms, or stores, they can manipulate what you see. Reminds me, you should both read Technopoly, it was written decades ago and it's only become more and more relevant

Correct. Also built up this country’s media/propaganda networks, Freud’s nephew, it tends to pay dividends to read the foundational works imo. This country has been fascist for some time, or at the very least flirting with it, now it’s a question of American Nazism not rly fascism. Ofc, depends on how stringently you define fascism

I mean... you can look at the definition of fascism and point to where Trump checks every box. The movement towards consolidated powers is what makes him so much more problematic. The checks and balances are supposed to prevent this. I'm hoping he pushes it far enough for a communist revolution to overtake him.
