Okay so has anyone read the Heated Rivalry book? I’m halfway through it and it isn’t very good. It’s fine, but the characters aren’t developed and the plot is paper thin. I loved Tough Guy and Role Model though

i didn’t like it that much either, the second one is better but even then the miscommunication is kinda not needed.

I’m surprised it was adapted as well as it was lowkey cause I thought it read too much like fanfic (which makes sense cause the series was originally a Stucky fanfic)

It could be that I’m comparing it to the show too much though. I think Rachel Reid is a fantastic writer and overall I really like Game Changers, but I think HR might just be the worst of the series

Yes exactly!! There’s so little actual development, and the characters are cardboard. Ilya seems like he could be interesting, but halfway through we don’t see much of his depth. The show, however, takes the source material and improves in a hundred fold. But like I said, Rachel Reid is a great writer, but every great writer has its meh book. I was just surprised to see it was this one. And also Common Goal is bad, but that’s a different topic 😂

I thought the miscommunication was handled beautifully in the show, but the book doesn’t expand on it at all. Now, if we’re talking about an awful use of miscommunication, Common Goal REEKS of it

I think it’s because she was playing favorites the entire book. She herself has said it that she likes Ilya more than Shane that’s why he comes up in all the books and why Shane’s struggles are never truly spoken of unless they’re centered around Ilya.
