one of my goals this year is to be more open minded, so i’ve decided to read at least one popular booktok book each month! (bc honestly they seem fun and i’ve been reading depressing lit fic) if anyone has any recommendations, i’m happy to take them!

I found “Assistant to the Villain” via TikTok…. Loved it. Have all 3 books and keeping my eye on the prize when the fourth one drops

cruel prince is definitely a good booktok book/series. booktok loves to market it as romance but its actually a political fantasy with a romance subplot.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is my favorite book ever. It has gorgeous prose in it. It was recommended to me from BookTok. There are a few scenes of SA, but it isn’t detailed and absolutely not romanticized in any way. I recommend this book to literally everybody

i will say i definitely draw the line at books that romanticize rape and abuse and call it “dark romance”

I JUST READ I WHO HAVE NEVER KNOW MEN i actually really enjoyed it, meditation and philosophy made me kinda hyper realize in a sense how little inherent value anything has besides love (not in a relationship sense), and i who have never known men made me realize that without all these meaningless things that humans created life would be boring its a matter of finding a medium, in the sense she was bored with how things were there and how dreary life was at the end of the story.
