Right!!! Like their should be NO reason why I am struggling to find good dark romance books that also don’t have rape or SA warnings like yes we need to raise awareness and I don’t care if it’s mentioned but to have a rape scene in every god damn book 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

And readers! There are a lot of people writing off the few dark romance books that tell great stories and are romances surrounded by dark atmospheres. It’s a shame really

It’s why I switched to primarily reading sci-fi romance cuz most of the time it’s not a fetishized rape scene but rather a trauma (flashback or semi active moment) of the FMC or MMC and their alien partner proceeds to love it out with them through wholesome means

What is dark romance supposed to be? I’ve avoided it because I thought it was all romanticizing abuse

While you do have a point, it’s called rape. If you aren’t mature enough to use the actual word then you aren’t mature enough to have a discussion about it. Using a euphemism just trivializes it.

Exactly! As an SA survivor, I have no problem with representation when it is tagged and respected. But the way it’s in EVERY damn dark romance book. And they ROMANTICIZE IT??!! Ridiculous

It’s so uncomfortable like why the hell are we romanticizing something that so many suffer through? (I’m looking at you haunting Adeline)

The weird thing is I’m pretty sure the author of haunting Adeline confirmed that it was rape and that Zade is a rapist yet there are people defending him like it’s a 9 to 5 job

We all know what I was talking about. Just because I didn’t outright say the word rape doesn’t mean I am trivializing it or too immature to talk about it. I was immature when I was raped at 11. I don’t have to use the word to understand it’s weight 🫶
