Is Fourth Wing actually good?

It’s fun to read like fanfiction, but the writing is pretty bad

It was awful imo. So much was taken from other book series and the characters were abysmal. The dragons deserve a better book. The Temeraire is much better if you want a dragon rider fantasy

I am actually shocked by these reviews, it’s one of my favorite series. Rebecca yarros doesn’t leave plot holes like many other writers, and there are so many hints and foreshadowing that are put together artfully it gives you that classic ah ha moment. I am usually very good at sniffing out plot and she kept me in the edge the whole time

Good? Hell no, not at all. Fun? There’s a good chance, depending on your tastes and how seriously you take literature. It requires a lot of suspension of disbelief imo

It’s ok. I read things better than it, but also books that were worse. If it focused more on the fantasy part and allowed the romance to develop more naturally, I probably would’ve liked it more

Fun? Maybe if you don’t like to think while you read. Good? Not really. There are a lot of mistakes with the world building that are hard to ignore. The dragons and the humans are not written well (their relationships) and the romance is probably the most decent part of the book but it still needs work.

Unfortunately a lot of that was stolen from other writers A good chunk of the plot points are taken from the Temeraire and Red queens

In ur opinion is the later two not worth reading, like are they too romance heavy or boring plot? Im debating whether to continue reading. It’s definitely not my favorite but it was easy to read out of slump

It’s ok to like something but you just gotta admit when it’s not really that good

But it is good. Liking it is subjective. We’re not going to like the same thing obviously.

Yeah I just can’t ever agree with you on that when violet is written like a 13 year old and ends up having sex with a grown ass man. Nope.

Don’t worry, you’ll grow up a tolerance for bad writing the more you read. I had my shitty fanfiction phase as well.

Im sure you’re someone who thinks Colleen Hoovers writing is good as well. Don’t worry you’ll grow up to find out that just because you don’t like something, doesn’t mean it’s overall bad.

Never said a word about her and I’m trying to figure out what massive mental gymnastics you had to do in order to come to that conclusion. I think they both share the same boat of bad writing either way but at least Rebecca is just incompetent and not a creep like Hoover.

Never read her, my favorite writings are probably James Baldwin, Osamu Dazai, and Bernardine Evaristo. We definitely have different tastes I’ll give you that
