Tried to start ones with my friends, and I’m ok with a little spicy scene here and there don’t get me wrong, but every book I recommended that didn’t have any spicy scenes immediately got turned down for being “too boring” 🫩. The ones with a few were complained about being too slow. They recommended straight porn scripts. Guys if you want to ONLY read smut get a porn hub subscription not a book club we have to have some balance PLEASE. I have nothing against smut but COME ON

maybe it’s anxiety or something else but i can’t imagine discussing a smut book with someone. not that ive ever read one but ive read books that contained a scene or two and i couldn’t even discuss that with a friend lol its so awkward

It’s definitely regional, cuz my book club does a different genre every month :) you need to be more open minded about the demographic. I find queer book clubs are more likely to not only read smut
