The way jkr treats femininity in her books shows this a lot Character who likes pink and cats and has a high voice is called a toad and is a villain Character who takes care of his appearance is made a coward and is an antagonist Hermione in a dress is shamed the whole night for having fun with another school at an event made to gather people Lavender and the Patil twins are described more femininely and they’re used for temporary girlfriends who have opinions that others dislike (divination)
No this actually is super relevant I fear. She also just took a picture up a trans woman’s skirt and then said “she was asking for it bc of how she was dressed” (rapist language). Like she is literally the worst and absolutely related to book club when there are still people out there promoting Harry Potter like it’s their job.
I don’t fucking post the same stuff all the time and I’m not mentally ill. I’m just pointing out issues I have with racism, misogyny, and bigotry. And news flash. Books are political. Just say you want to stick to your books and have fun and not give a damn about how they impact women, people of color, and lgbtq people.
Oh yeah, that’s a MASSIVE problem Don’t forget everyone shaming Hermione who jkr *swears* was *always* a black woman for SUPPORTING FREEING HOUSE ELVES FROM ENSLAVEMENT!!! She tries to make us all side with the “Hermione is being ridiculous for wanting to free enslaved beings. They’re bred to like enslavement. They don’t know what to do if they’re not enslaved.” That was literally the argument held by slaveowners to uphold the system of enslavment. Wtf
