On principle, I agree. In practice, it is impractical for me to have more than 2-3 physical books in my dorm room (and in my ship’s cabin when I’m sailing - for work!), so the Kindle app fills the gap during those times.

I agree but it’s because I hate reading on a screen (I’m a software engineer so I work on screens all day already). I also just feel like I can’t focus as much on a kindle. I absolutely see the appeal and usefulness of a kindle though, and I’d get one if I could stand using them. I also just like the idea of having a bookshelf full of books I love

I use both, I like paper books but they’re more expensive and take up too much space

people saying physical books are expensive, but that’s why libraries exist! check out a book for free and if you like it enough to want to reread it in the future then you buy your own copy :)

I had a kindle as a kid and hated it. I don’t really focus reading with a bright screen in my face (probably why I stopped reading in my car). I’m always happy to buy refurbished or just from the bookstore but then I run out of space to hold books. I think digital reading is better for annotating though I’m a person that doesn’t like to mark up her physical copies😭

I’m lazy and hate having to hold a book and keep the light on in bed

I love having physical books. And now with kindles having ads on them…I don’t think I’ll ever get one

For me it’s just 5 less things I have to pack or unpack when getting to and from college. Why would I buy books or bring them with me to college if i dont live there full time it makes no sense. I’d rather just keep all my real books at home then have my kindle at college. If I really really want a physical book im only gonna bring 1

Do you read for 6 hours a day? How tf are you reading 2 books per day every day?

I read at nearly 1000 words per minute, nearly double the average reading speed of a college student (the demographic with the highest average reading speed). I only spend about an hour reading on weekdays, but I spend about 5 hours reading on weekends and school breaks.

This. I have so many books I want to annotate because I love them or want to remember details but my physical copies are either too nice or too small 😭 Ain’t about to revisit high school English

Yes, I do realize this, but kindle unlimited is also far more convenient for me, as when I finish a book, I can start another one right away

it’s moreover transporting 10-20 books back and forth when you move in/out and for me all of my physical books ended up getting bent or sun damagedddd
