Do you need to read the rest of his books to understand this one? Because I’ve only read the first Mistborn book ( I’m waiting on the second to come from the library)

I’ve heard that it’s generally considered a standalone, but there are some references to his other books that you may not understand if you haven’t read them

No, you’ll have a fine time reading it without having read his other books. You’ll miss references but they’re more like Easter eggs than plot points
