I knew as soon as the author said she was stepping away from the production it wasn’t going in a good direction. This book series is one of the ones that got me back into reading and the mc’s struggles with colorism is a huge aspect of the story. While I’m not poc I still found it disappointing and hypocritical that the show writers were doing this.
